Then add incomer equipment, metering, residual-current arrangements, segregation and the explicitly requested spare capacity. A circuit count and a module count are related, but they are not the same.

Which schedule fields have the biggest effect?

Record pole count, device width, accessory blocks, RCBO or RCCB arrangement, neutral distribution, control modules and any special busbar requirements. The distribution-box range can be reviewed once these fields are known.

What enclosure constraints should be shown?

Show cable-entry direction, bend space, door clearance, mounting depth, environment, IP expectations and the service area needed for testing or replacement. Enclosure size cannot be inferred from way count alone.

Why can thermal and wiring checks limit the board?

A full-looking rail does not prove that the assembly is thermally suitable. Check grouping, ambient temperature, loading diversity, conductor routing, neutral terminals and the assembly verification route. IEC 61439-1 provides a useful assembly context, while the current applicable edition and project requirements must be confirmed.

What should a board request include?

Send the circuit schedule, single-line diagram, module widths, spare policy, enclosure constraints, incoming supply, busbar and neutral expectations, cable entries, labels, environment and requested document pack. State whether the quotation is for a complete assembly or only the enclosure and accessories.

Which CHAC product route supports the first layout?

Utilisez le distribution and junction-box information to compare enclosure families, then confirm the exact dimensions and configuration against the drawing. Product pages should support, not replace, the assembly layout review.

When should the way count be frozen?

Freeze it after the device schedule, spare policy, thermal assumptions and cable-entry plan have been approved. If RCBOs, metering or control accessories are still moving, keep the way count provisional so the panel is not purchased around an incomplete layout.

A defensible distribution board way count is the number that remains after device widths, accessories, wiring space and the assembly review are all represented on the layout.

FAQ

What does way count mean in a board RFQ?

It is the planned number of outgoing ways plus any explicitly requested spare capacity on the assembly.

Should spare ways be assumed by the supplier?

No. State spare policy as an explicit RFQ field.

Can enclosure size be inferred from way count alone?

No. Cable entries, accessories, and service access also affect enclosure selection.

How does this differ from a junction-box decision?

A junction-box versus distribution-box boundary is a different installation question; keep it on its own article inputs.

What documents should accompany the RFQ?

Provide the device schedule, layout constraints, and the documentation pack required for the target market.

When should way count be frozen?

Freeze it after the circuit schedule and spare policy are approved, before purchasing the enclosure family.

Références

IEC 61439-1 assembly general rules

IEC TR 61439-0 specification guidance

CHAC CQMG distribution box information

Way count is the physical space and circuit-capacity decision behind a distribution-board request.
