Applications and Selection Guide

Use the product-specific values below as a shortlist, then validate the complete circuit design. Product ratings do not replace a fault-current study, conductor calculation, coordination review or applicable installation rules.

Selection point PXB6-125 option What the project must confirm
Rated current 10A–125A Coordinate with design current, conductor ampacity, ambient temperature and grouping
Trip curve C / D Choose for load inrush and required fault-clearing performance, not by current alone
Breaking capacity 12.5kA Icn; 7.5kA Ics Confirm against the prospective short-circuit current at the installation point
Pole arrangement 1P / 2P / 3P / 4P Match supply system and local switching or isolation rules
Installation interface DIN-rail installation Check enclosure, rail/base, terminal and conductor compatibility

Breaking Capacity

12.5kA Icn; 7.5kA Ics is the published product value. Confirm the prospective short-circuit current at the installation point.

Installation and Coordination Checks

  • Verify conductor material and cross-section against the circuit calculation and the published terminal range.
  • Confirm the prospective short-circuit current does not exceed the applicable breaking rating.
  • Check upstream/downstream coordination, enclosure temperature, grouping, altitude and required clearances.
  • Installation, isolation, testing and maintenance must be carried out by qualified personnel under applicable rules.

PXB6-125 Product FAQ

Is 2 AWG wire suitable for a 125A breaker?

No universal answer is safe because AWG ampacity depends on conductor material, insulation, temperature, termination rating, installation method and local code. PXB6-125 uses metric product references; the project designer must perform the final cable calculation.

What conductor size will fit the PXB6-125?

The published product reference associates 125A with up to 50mm² copper, with smaller references for lower ratings. Terminal fit does not prove ampacity; verify conductor calculation, termination data and installation conditions.

Can #4 copper be used on a 100A breaker?

That is jurisdiction- and installation-specific and cannot be confirmed from the breaker rating alone. For PXB6-125, use the published metric terminal reference and the applicable conductor-sizing rules rather than converting by assumption.

What does kA mean on the PXB6-125?

kA describes short-circuit interrupting duty, not rated load current. PXB6-125 publishes 12.5kA Icn and 7.5kA Ics, which must be checked against the prospective fault current and coordination requirements.

When is a higher-breaking-capacity MCB required?

It is required when the calculated prospective short-circuit current and coordination study demand that duty. The published Icn and Ics values must both be considered for the intended system.

How do I choose the correct PXB6-125 breaker?

Confirm 10A–125A rated current, C or D curve, 1P–4P arrangement, operating voltage, fault level, conductor calculation, enclosure conditions, standard and destination-market documents.
