Disjuntor Miniatura PXB6-40
Visão Geral do Produto
The CHAC PXB6-40 is a 1P+N miniature circuit breaker for single-phase AC final circuits. It combines overload and short-circuit protection with linked phase and neutral disconnection. The available ratings are 6, 10, 16, 20, 25, 32 and 40A at 230/240V AC, 50/60Hz, with B, C or D tripping characteristics.
For distributors, panel builders and electrical brands, the ordering decision starts with the circuit requirements: current rating, trip curve, available fault current and the required neutral-switching arrangement. This 4.5kA MCB should be specified only where the prospective short-circuit current is within its published rating, unless an applicable coordinated combination has been verified.
The PXB6-40 is an overcurrent protective device. It does not provide residual-current protection; where the circuit requires that function, select a suitable Disjuntor Diferencial Residual or a coordinated RCD arrangement. Its published standard references are IEC 60898-1 and GB/T 10963.1. Request the documents applicable to the ordered model and destination market before approval.
Principais Características
Aplicações Típicas
Consider the PXB6-40 for single-phase lighting, socket-outlet and equipment branch circuits in residential or commercial distribution assemblies where the design calls for linked phase and neutral disconnection. Suitability depends on conductor sizing, load behavior, supply arrangement, fault level and local rules. Do not treat the AC rating as a DC rating, or select D curve solely to suppress repeated trips without checking the underlying load and fault conditions.
Guia de Candidaturas e Seleção
| Selection item | What to check | PXB6-40 specification |
|---|---|---|
| Corrente nominal | Match the design current to conductor ampacity after accounting for installation method, temperature and grouping. | 6 / 10 / 16 / 20 / 25 / 32 / 40A |
| Supply and poles | Confirm the single-phase supply and whether phase and neutral must disconnect together. Follow the marked terminals and project drawing. | 1P+N; 230/240V AC; 50/60Hz |
| Tripping characteristic | Compare normal inrush with the magnetic-trip range, then check that fault current permits the required disconnection time. | B: 3–5 × In; C: 5–10 × In; D: 10–20 × In |
| Capacidade de corte | Check the prospective short-circuit current at the installation point. A higher upstream rating alone does not prove backup protection. | 4.5kA; Icn = Ics = 4500A |
| Proteção contra correntes residuais | Check the project requirements separately. Linked neutral switching does not detect leakage current. | MCB only; use a suitable RCBO or RCD arrangement where required |
| Panel fit and documents | Confirm dimensions, terminal requirements, busbar arrangement and market documentation for the exact order. | Use the PXB6-40 drawings and approved installation data below |
Compare breaking capacity, tripping curves, pole configurations and protection functions before selecting the right miniature circuit breaker for your application.
Check whether 4.5kA meets the fault level
The PXB6-40 has a 4.5kA rating. Use the project fault-current calculation to decide whether this is sufficient or a higher-rated device is needed.
Match B, C or D curve to the circuit
A higher magnetic threshold may accommodate inrush, but the available fault current must still allow timely operation.
Confirm the neutral-switching arrangement
1P+N and 2P are different configuration descriptions. Check which conductors are switched and protected before specifying a substitute.
Decide whether the circuit needs an RCBO
The PXB6-40 protects against overcurrent. An RCBO also provides residual-current protection, subject to its type and sensitivity.

| Corrente nominal | Specify one of 6, 10, 16, 20, 25, 32 or 40A |
| curva de disparo | Specify B, C or D; include the load or inrush information if selection support is needed |
| Project conditions | 230/240V AC supply, prospective short-circuit current, panel layout and destination market |
| Commercial requirements | Quantity, sample request, branding artwork, packaging language and required documents |
Example order format: PXB6-40 · 1P+N · C16A · quantity required. The example illustrates the format; the selected rating and curve must be approved for the circuit.

How to Choose Between B, C and D Curves
The PXB6-40 tripping table gives instantaneous test boundaries of 3–5 × In for B curve, 5–10 × In for C curve and 10–20 × In for D curve. B may suit lower-inrush circuits, while C or D may be considered where starting current is higher. These are selection starting points, not fixed assignments to an appliance type. Confirm both normal transients and fault-loop conditions. The table uses a 30°C reference temperature; obtain model-specific derating guidance for other installation conditions.
When to Specify the 1P+N Arrangement
The PXB6-40 is offered in a 1P+N configuration with simultaneous phase and neutral disconnection. A switched neutral should not be assumed to be an independently overcurrent-protected pole. Confirm the device markings and wiring diagram, and follow the supply-system and local requirements for neutral switching. Do not substitute two unrelated single-pole devices for linked operation.
When a 4.5kA MCB Is Not Enough
The 4.5kA rating is the published short-circuit breaking capacity, not a 4500A continuous-current rating. If the installation fault level exceeds 4.5kA, specify a suitable higher-rated product or an explicitly verified coordinated combination. Merely fitting a larger upstream breaker does not establish that the PXB6-40 can be used above its standalone rating.

PXB6-40 Miniature Circuit Breaker FAQ
What is the difference between a 1-pole MCB and a 2-pole MCB?
A 1-pole MCB switches one conductor, while a linked 2-pole device operates two conductors. Protection arrangements depend on the product. The PXB6-40 uses 1P+N with simultaneous phase and neutral disconnection; it should not be assumed to have two independently protected poles. Check the markings, wiring diagram and local neutral-switching requirements before selecting a replacement.
What is the breaking capacity of an MCB?
Breaking capacity is the prospective short-circuit current the device is rated to interrupt under its stated test conditions. For the PXB6-40, the published value is 4.5kA, with Icn = Ics = 4500A. It is separate from the 6–40A load-current rating. Check the fault level at the installation point; use a suitable alternative or verified coordinated solution if 4.5kA is insufficient.
Which MCB is better, C or B?
Neither curve is universally better. Their instantaneous magnetic-trip thresholds differ: the PXB6-40 data gives B at 3–5 times rated current, C at 5–10 times and D at 10–20 times. Select for the load inrush and available fault current together. A higher threshold is not an automatic upgrade: it may need more fault current to achieve the required disconnection time.
Why use an RCBO instead of an MCB?
Use an appropriate RCBO when the circuit requires residual-current protection as well as overcurrent protection. The PXB6-40 provides overload and short-circuit protection but does not detect earth leakage. Switching the neutral does not add leakage detection. Consider the PXB6Ln-40 RCBO or another suitable arrangement, and confirm the residual-current type and sensitivity required for the circuit.
How do I select the MCB current rating?
Select the current rating from the circuit design current and conductor ampacity, accounting for installation method, temperature, grouping and load behavior. The PXB6-40 offers 6, 10, 16, 20, 25, 32 and 40A. Its 40A model designation does not mean every circuit should use 40A, and a recurring trip should be diagnosed before increasing the rating.
Can an AC MCB be used for DC?
Do not assume that an AC-rated MCB is suitable for DC. The PXB6-40 operating rating published here is 230/240V AC; this page does not establish a DC rating. For a DC project, select a documented DC circuit breaker and verify its voltage, poles, wiring arrangement and breaking capacity for the actual circuit.
