FB2-63 Miniature Circuit Breaker
The FB2-63 miniature circuit breaker provides overload and short-circuit protection within the published 10A–63A range. Its verified product data lists 6kA Icu = Ics, 1P / 2P and C. Final selection must match the conductor, load, prospective fault current, installation system and applicable local rules.
Product Overview
FB2-63 is a 6kA Icu = Ics miniature circuit breaker covering 10A–63A. It is available with 1P / 2P and C trip options as stated in the product data. For the FB2 plug-in family, confirm the receiving panel and base arrangement; a matching current rating alone does not establish compatibility.
The model data references IEC 60898-1. Standards, certification scope and technical documents must be confirmed for the ordered configuration and destination market.
Key Features
Typical Applications
It is intended for AC distribution circuits where the selected current rating, curve, pole arrangement and breaking capacity match the conductor and system study. Typical project contexts include residential, commercial and light-industrial final distribution; suitability depends on the actual circuit rather than the application label alone.
Applications and Selection Guide
Use the product-specific values below as a shortlist, then validate the complete circuit design. Product ratings do not replace a fault-current study, conductor calculation, coordination review or applicable installation rules.
| Selection point | FB2-63 option | What the project must confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Rated current | 10A–63A | Coordinate with design current, conductor ampacity, ambient temperature and grouping |
| Trip curve | C | Choose for load inrush and required fault-clearing performance, not by current alone |
| Breaking capacity | 6kA Icu = Ics | Confirm against the prospective short-circuit current at the installation point |
| Pole arrangement | 1P / 2P | Match supply system and local switching or isolation rules |
| Installation interface | Plug-in mounting | Check enclosure, rail/base, terminal and conductor compatibility |
Breaking Capacity
6kA Icu = Ics is the published product value. Confirm the prospective short-circuit current at the installation point.
Trip and Load Behaviour
C is the available trip/protection option. Match it to load inrush and required disconnection performance.
Pole Configuration
Available arrangement: 1P / 2P. Confirm which conductors must be switched and protected under local rules.
MCB or RCBO
An MCB does not replace residual-current protection where an RCD or RCBO is required.
Ordering Guide
- Specify the exact model: FB2-63.
- State the required current rating within 10A–63A.
- Confirm pole arrangement: 1P / 2P.
- Confirm trip or protection option: C.
- Provide system voltage, expected fault level, destination market, quantity and any document requirements.
Installation and Coordination Checks
- Verify conductor material and cross-section against the circuit calculation and the published terminal range.
- Confirm the prospective short-circuit current does not exceed the applicable breaking rating.
- Check upstream/downstream coordination, enclosure temperature, grouping, altitude and required clearances.
- Installation, isolation, testing and maintenance must be carried out by qualified personnel under applicable rules.

FB2-63 Product FAQ
Which is better, a plug-in or bolt-on circuit breaker?
Neither mounting style is universally better. FB2-63 is a plug-in MCB, so the receiving panel or base, contact arrangement and mechanical fit must be verified; a bolt-on design uses a different connection system.
What are the disadvantages of bolt-on breakers?
Bolt-on devices can require more installation steps and access to the secured connection, but the real trade-off depends on the panel design. Do not substitute a bolt-on or plug-in breaker unless the assembly is verified for it.
Are plug-in circuit breakers safe?
They can be suitable when the exact breaker and receiving assembly are compatible, correctly installed and maintained. A matching rating alone does not prove mechanical or electrical compatibility.
When should a bolt-on breaker be used instead of FB2-63?
Use the mounting system specified and verified for the panel. If the assembly requires a bolted connection, FB2-63 should not be treated as an interchangeable replacement merely because its current and curve appear similar.
Is FB2-63 a plug-in circuit breaker?
Yes. FB2-63 is published with plug-in mounting, 240V AC, C curve, 1P or 2P options and 6kA Icu = Ics. Confirm the receiving panel/base before ordering or replacement.
Do plug-in breakers need periodic replacement after a fixed number of years?
Age alone does not define a universal replacement date. Inspect for damage, overheating, loose fit or abnormal operation and follow the panel manufacturer's maintenance instructions; qualified personnel should evaluate any suspected device.
